Misook Lee is currently a Project Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo. She completed her PhD in the field of Socio-Information and Communication Studies in the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at the University of Tokyo. She investigates the possibilities of the transnational public sphere by exploring communicative interaction among transnational activists and the role of media, focusing on the "Japan-Korea Solidarity Movement." Her article “South Korea’s Democratization Movement of the 1970s and 80s and Communicative Interaction in Transnational Ecumenical Networks” was published in the International Journal of Korean History and "The Japan-Korea Solidarity Movement in the 1970s and 1980s: From Solidarity to Reflexive Democracy" in The Asia-Pacific Journal: Japan Focus.
